Escape to the Country – Museum of East Anglian Life

MEAL graphic“On Monday 24th of February 2014, the Museum of East Anglian Life will be opening Escape to the Country. This new exhibition follows the people who left the city rat race to start new lives in rural East Anglia in the 1970s.” More information

The Fairs Archive has been supporting the museum in creating the exhibition, providing information, artefacts and copies of posters and other exhibition material.

The Museum of East Anglian Life is in Iliffe Way, opposite the ASDA supermarket in the centre of Stowmarket.

The Museum is signposted from the main A14 trunk road and the B1115 to Great Finborough. For SatNav users please search for ‘Iliffe Way’

A small car park is located in the grounds of Abbot’s Hall which can be accessed via the museum entrance. There are 20 spaces and 4 disabled spaces. Parking here is free and restricted to museum visitors only. Additional parking is available in Iliffe Way carpark, the Tourist Information Centre can provide vouchers for all day parking for just £1 with museum entry.

The railway station is a 10 minute walk and the bus stop 5 minutes, making us easy to access with public transport, which we encourage through our Green MEAL scheme. We also provide a cycle shed for cyclists to leave their bicycles.
